OM-MANI-PADME-HUM which in Sanskrit literally means “honouring the lotus jewel”, focuses on the history and rituals of the Tibetan Buddhists of the Yellow Hat Order with a particular focus on their connection to the Shaolin monks and thus the study of their training. The idea for this new project stems from the need to continue the exploration and examination of the connection between spirituality and ritual through movement, already begun with the previous solo NAMU: the Sanskrit word namu – or namas – means ‘devotion’.
SVARUPA – VYAKTA is a solo inspired by a trip to India and means “Self” in Sanskrit in two different ways as different will be the dialectic created between the dancers and the five balloons, which represent the projection of the “Self” in another dimension.
Svarupa-vyakta is a historical piece of Stefano Fardelli’s repertoire, a highly successful solo that toured the world between 2014 and 2019, danced by Stefano Fardelli himself, and that is now staged again for a duet and two dancers of the company, with the new title SVARUPA & VYAKTA.
