About the Pieces

COME VERDE ONGOING

by Isabel Paladin

The piece is a performance that explores the relationship between the human being and the plant world by combining dance, nature and new technologies. The dance that characterizes the performance, as the title (ONGOING) suggests, is in continuous becoming, manifesting the dynamic balance between performer and plant, whose dialogue—despite their apparent distance as life forms—generates a sound composition through the MIDI device Playtron.

The performative project aims to create a listening space to re-evaluate the existing distance between man and the plant world. While maintaining her own identity, the dancer approaches the plant with care and curiosity. This proximity generates a dialogue between the plant structure and the body structure, in which the boundaries of the two entities, initially distinct, blur and amalgamate at times.

FOLDED LANDSCAPE
by Laura Manicone

Every era comes with its own communication barriers. Often, we look at the present believing its problems to be unique and unprecedented, idealizing the past as a better formula, though now corrupted and lost.

Every collapse of traditions and values leads to a loss of meaning. The underlying forces driving humanity toward a potential future also bring destructive energies, destabilizing the foundations of our being as “social animals.” Each of these upheavals draw desolate relational landscapes, where the future no longer represents a forward trajectory but a continual regression of the present.
This project aims to stage one of these landscapes, timeless and placeless. It is a space inhabited by two characters incapable of communication, unable to connect. These figures are suspended in a state of constant imbalance, trapped in a time that repeats infinitely, in an eternal recurrence of anxieties and fears, as real today as they were in the past.

Creation and Dance: Laura Manicone and Isabel Paladin.
