GROUND ZERO “S” WON IODC 2021

IODC - International Online Dance Competition
1° prize : Continuum by Niosbel Osmar González Rubio (Spain)
2° prize : Ground Zero “S” by Stefano Fardelli (EurAsia Repertory)
3° prize : Complet Brouillé by Etienne Delorme (Les Grands Ballets Canadiens)

Ground Zero “S” won the second prize of the Choreography Division for IODC, International Online Dance Competition 2021.

Stefano Fardelli wants to dedicate this victory to Syria, that inspired this work, and to the 50 dancers who gave life to his work.
The piece is a part of the EurAsia Repertory and has been commissioned by Attakkalari Centre For Movement Arts of Bangalore in 2018 and supported by Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Mumbai, India.

Ground Zero “S” had the premiere at Chowdiah Memorial Hall of Bangalore danced by 50 Attakkalari Diploma Students including some of the EurAsia Students & Dancers now part of EurAsia.

EurAsia Dance Project International Network & EurAsia Repertory are both directed by Stefano Fardelli.

Among the quotes released by Rick Tjia, President of the IODC Jury, to Stefano Fardelli regarding ‘Ground Zero “S”:
“This is a very well developed, visceral, and visually stimulating piece. It is rare to see, and so let me begin by commending you on this work. Most choreographers start with an idea but never develop it. Some get so cerebral that they forget that there is an audience watching that cannot read their mind and needs to be stimulated visually. You don’t fall into any of these traps, and tell a danced story that takes us somewhere and has direction throughout the entire journey. Bravo for this! …

… As they say, “everything’s been done.” But it’s not necessarily about being original, but about adding your own story, your own personality, your own style, to it. And this you have done. So thank you so much for a very strong work.”

In 2023, Ground Zero “S” will be restaged in Europe in collaboration with three EurAsia Partners.
