EurAsia Dance company

E.D.C. – EurAsia Dance Company and the EurAsia Repertory are a part of the EurAsia Dance Project International Network – ETS, directed by Stefano Fardelli: the repertory is composed of 17 titles and is performed by the E.D.C., the official dance company of the Network, but it also is reassembled for other dance companies and dance institutions.

All the pieces are created by Stefano Fardelli and inspired by the meeting with the different cultures and realities during the tours of the Company around the world. After artistic residencies the new creations always have the world premiere in one of the countries where the EurAsia Dance Project International Network – ETS is based through a Partner.

The E.D.C. is composed by the EurAsia Dancers and so those dancers that have been selected in all the five continents through the EurAsia Auditions On Tour that every year run in Africa, South America, The Middle East and Asia. After their three years of training with the Scholarships for European dance academies, the dancers have the chance to extend their Visa in Europe, for extra opportunities given by Network, or to work with the biggest international dance companies, with the EurAsia Partners and some of them can be chosen for entering the  E.D.C. – EurAsia Dance Company, on tour worldwide.

Despite the few years since its launch, E.D.C. already has a very clear stylistic figure and Stefano Fardelli has inaugurated a method and a choreographic code recognizable and traceable to the natural artistic needs of the entire mother project.

Through their travelling on tour worldwide and the discovering and the study of local traditional dances, the dancers of the company acquire the technical elements of those dances, the qualities, the rhythms, the body languages, the symbolisms , the rituality of the movements to then elaborate everything and create the new movement sequences that gives life to the new creations. All while remaining abstract, in the code, form and dramaturgy of the pieces. The interesting process of “translation” and “transformation” of the basic elements of the traditional techniques that they examine, also give the dancers the possibility of experimenting and hypothesizing what their evolution could have been or what could be in the future and therefore an evolved form of the same movements but in a contemporary perspective.

Each EurAsia Dancers has different origins, backgrounds, different bodies, different qualities  of movement and has the chance to translate the same material with a completely different flavor that corresponds to their own personality but also to the contamination they have with their own traditional dances of origin.

Operative producer and main co-producer of the E.D.C. is the EurAsia Partner DANCEHAUSpiú of Milan, supported by MIC -Italian Cultural Ministry of Rome, Italy.
